This is the official blog of the Not A Cornfield project, a living sculpture in the form of a field of corn. The project is located just North of downtown Los Angeles on a large stretch of land well known as “The Cornfield.”

Salon Series Continues Friday with Castells

The Friday Nights @ Not A Cornfield series of community programs continues through at least December 2, 2005.

This Friday, November 11, at 7:30pm, internationally renowned sociologist Manuel Castells is In Conversation with Not A Cornfield artist Lauren Bon.

The Salon takes place under the cover of the heated yurt at the North end of the 32-acre art project site. The formal title for the evening is, ""If You Want a Better Urban Life, You Invent It, Then Fight for It."

Recently, "The Story of Corn" author Betty Fussell regaled an intimate Friday Nights @ Not A Cornfield crowd with tales of Meso-American history, contemporary uses of corn, architecture, art history, and genetics.

A special film screening of "The Real Dirt on Farmer John" will occur at Not A Cornfield on Sunday, Novemeber 13 at 6pm, following the conclusion of standard Sundays @ Not A Cornfield site-specific activities.
