MTA Holds Zanja Madre Meeting at Not A Cornfield

The MTA held a community meeting Wednesday evening, October 12, 2005 for the purpose of discussing the agency's progress in uncovering the Zanja Madre and the potential plans for exhibiting the artifact.

A document distributed at the meeting says that a cultural resource firm called Cogstone recommends the following regarding the historic site: "Leaving the interior sediment in place, excellent drainage, keeping plants six feet away, putting clean sand behind the zanja to support it, coloring the retaining wall to match the natural surroundings and state that a roof would assist long-term maintenance but is not absolutely necessary."
