The Not A Cornfield Project Blog + Podcast

This is the official blog of the Not A Cornfield project, a living sculpture in the form of a field of corn. The project is located just North of downtown Los Angeles on a large stretch of land well known as “The Cornfield.”

Hand-Harvest Test Complete; Space Created for Day of the Dead

Not A Cornfield team members wielding machetes conducted a successful test harvest of a 40-foot, circular area of the 32-acre art project site early Monday morning, October 24. The process took about ninety minutes, including the removal of irrigation drip tape. By mid-day, heavier machinery was employed to flatten out the furrows within the circle and create more level terrain.

The cleared area will be the ephemeral home to Not A Cornfield's Day of the Dead Ofrenda, beginning Wednesday November 2 and continuing through a Culmination Ceremony to be held at 10am on Sunday, November 6. Public participation is welcome and invited. More details.
